This routine is only visible if you are using the Vdb4 Database .

Use this routine to setup an automatic backup or make a manual backup.

Automatic Backup/Restore

If you are running the program on a standalone computer, using the Vdb4 Database, checking the Automatically backup etc. tick box will back your database up from the previous session the first time the program is run each day.

Decide upon the number of backups to keep at any one time (maximum 30), the location where you wish to store them and whether they should be compressed.

Proceed by clicking on the Perform an automatic backup... button

To restore from a backup first select the file you wish to restore (if necessary use the scroll bar to the right of the screen) and click on the Restore from chosen automatic backup button.

The program closes and restarts.

Manual Backup

If you wish to backup a database manually onto removable media:

click on the Save a backup... button
select (by double clicking) the relevant drive
if appropriate choose the required folder
hit the Open the button
decide on a suitable file name, and
Save.

To restore from a backup from removable media:

click on the Restore from a backup... button
select (by double clicking) the relevant drive
if appropriate choose the required folder
Highlight the file you wish to restore
hit the Open the button
